100% Recycled Content.Crumb Rubber Process
Tire arrives at facility.
Tire put into shredder and shredded to a 2” diameter rubber chip with steel and fiber still intact.
2” rubber chip is fed into a machine and processed down to a ¾” size or smaller depending on the product being made. The size of the material being produced by the machine depends on the screen size installed in the machine. Different screens can be used to make different size material for different industries and processes.
The ¾” nugget is conveyed through a series of magnets and air filtration systems to remove the wire and fiber that was originally part of the tire.
When producing rubber mulch for playground, landscaping and equestrian applications, the material is dropped into a 2,000lb. polypropylene super sack and placed into inventory.
When producing crumb rubber, the material is processed, screened, and cleaned further down the line until the material is the desired size. Many applications including molded products, civil engineering, and synthetic turf require crumb rubber to be clean of contaminants like steel and fiber and also be a specific size. We are able to screen and size the rubber to customer specifications.
International Recycled Products recycles every component of the tire. The high quality steel and fiber that is separated from the rubber become valuable and is recycled and put to use in other applications. The steel is sent to a steel mill to be melted down and forged into new steel and sold to any number of industries. The fiber is used in a variety of industries including chemical spill clean up.
The last step in the process is the quality check. The quality check is in place to make sure all product shipped is high quality and to customer specifications.
